Split and merge checks
Split an open in-store check evenly, by item or seat, or by dollar amount, then pay each check on its own. Merge checks back together, move part of a table to its own order, or combine two tables' orders.
At a glance
- Where to find it
- pos › Orders › order › Split › Split Options
- pos › Orders › order › Pay › Split Checks
- Open the order and tap Split to reach Split Options. Split shows on open in-store orders that have no payment yet and aren't split already.
- Split Evenly: pick 2 to 50 checks of the same amount.
- Split Itemized Checks: select a check, then tap items to assign them; for an item with a quantity, choose how many go to the check. Swipe an item to Divide it 2–5 ways or Revert it, or tap By Seat for one check per seat. Clear any gift card discount on the order first.
- Split by Amount: enter each check's amount and tap Add check for more. The Remaining (final check) row shows what's left, which becomes the last check automatically; when the amounts add up exactly there is no extra check. You need at least two amounts and can't go over the order total.
- After splitting, Pay opens Split Checks: every check has its own Pay and print buttons and is colored by whether it's unpaid, partly paid or paid; Print All prints every check. An unpaid itemized check can take more items, void items, a discount, or be split again into two.
- Merge combines two or more unpaid checks. The trash icon resets all checks back into one; void any payments on the checks first.
- Split Order moves items into a new, separate order when part of the table leaves (in-store orders with no payment only). Merge Orders pulls another open in-store order from today into this one when two tables pay together; staff with full access can tap Show All to see every server's orders.
- With QR Pay on, each unpaid check prints its own QR code, so each guest can pay their own check from their phone.
