Tell us what you want to run

Right after you create a business, a few short questions — how you serve or sell, what you want to run on Selflane, and roughly how big you are — tell us which setup steps apply to you and what to follow up on.

At a glance

Where to find it
back-office › Create New Business › after Create business (Getting started)
back-office › Setup prompts › Questions › Answer the questions

The questions open in the same window as soon as the business is created.

  1. How customers are served — for restaurants: at a counter, at a table, both, or no in-person service, plus seat count. Service businesses are asked how customers book; shops how customers buy.
  2. What you want to run — tick any of: pickup, delivery, third-party ordering (DoorDash, Uber Eats, Grubhub), reservations, point of sale, kitchen display, self-order kiosk, QR ordering, event ticketing, invoicing, a website built for you, a mobile app built for you, loyalty and marketing, order text notifications. Then how you want to take card payments (Selflane merchant services, Stripe readers, Xplor Pay, another processor, or not sure), who delivers if you ticked delivery, and which POS you are switching from (optional).
  3. Size — rough monthly revenue as a range (or Rather not say) and how many locations you run.

Ticking a box turns nothing on and starts no charge; it tells the Selflane team what you are interested in, and your Selflane rep follows up to set it up with you.

The answers are required before a business is treated as fully set up, but you can leave and come back: until they are answered, a Questions tab appears in the setup prompts at the top of the Back Office. Test businesses skip the questions.
