Order details on the POS

Each order opens to a screen with its items, payments and print and action history, and a button for every change that applies: reprint, Rush, edit, change the server, or update an online, kiosk or delivery-app order.

  • Find an order by number (iPad): in Orders, pick the day the order was placed, tap the magnifying glass, enter the number and tap Search Order. For a register order you must be signed in as its server or have Full Access; otherwise the POS names the server. If no order that day has the number, it shows No matching order found.
  • What the screen shows: due time, server, status, customer, items and payments. The total is red until the order is fully paid, and a canceled order shows its cancel note in red. A Delivery order with a courier also shows the courier's status.
  • Tap to change: the server's name (or Select) to change the server; the total to open Tax Exempt (not on delivery-app orders); the phone icon to edit the customer's phone; the delivery address while it can still change; items to select them for Reprint Selected (they turn green); and the printer icon on a payment to print that receipt as a Customer Copy, Restaurant Copy or Both.
  • Order log (on iPad, beside the items; on iPhone, in the Print sheet): Printing Jobs waiting in this iPad's queue, a Print Log of every print with its time, the other iPad's name when it printed elsewhere, and an orange warning with the reason for a failed print, and an Action Log of changes with their time and amount. Pull down to refresh.
  • Under the items: a note on online and delivery-app orders, Front to send a register order to the customer-facing display, a Voided Items button listing each voided item with its amount, reason and time, and the gear's Show Printer / Hide Printer to show which printers each item goes to (remembered on that iPad).
  • Action row shows only the buttons that apply: Print, Rush/Normal, Edit, Add, Repeat, Tab, Member, Text, Split, Void (kiosk orders), Pay and Reopen (up to 48 hours after the due time). Add, Repeat and Split need an open register order with no payment or split checks. Edit isn't offered on delivery-app orders, closed orders or orders with split checks, and Text isn't offered on delivery-app orders.
  • Edit menu: on a register order, Edit Table, Time, Type · Edit Time (with a booked courier) · Apply Discount · Gift Card Discount (when the order sells a gift card) · Void Items · Cancel Order · Tax Exempt · Partial Refund (Stripe reader payments). On an online or kiosk order, Edit Time · Cancel Order (Full Refund) · Partial Refund · Adjust Price (Charge Extra), and an online Pick Up order can change to Delivery. Everything except Edit Table, Time, Type and Tax Exempt asks for a manager unless the signed-in staff member has a manager role; Gift Card Discount always asks a manager to sign in.
  • Printing Center (Print): Customer Receipt, w/o price, No QR Pay (when the receipt would carry a QR Pay code), Reprint to the Kitchen, Bar or Expo printers, Reprint Selected to Kitchen or Bar, Customize Auto Tip (manager approval) and Print Itemized Label. A canceled order offers only the receipt buttons.
  • Rush: on businesses with the Kitchen Display, Rush moves the order to the front of the kitchen screen and adds a red bolt in the order list; Normal takes it off. Closed and canceled orders can't be marked Rush, but a closed order that's already Rush keeps Normal.
  • Change the server: tap the name, pick a staff member and tap Submit. When Transfer Orders is checked under Manager Access Rules, staff without a manager role need a manager's approval for register orders and for delivery-app orders the customer pays for in the restaurant. A canceled order can't change server.
  • Online orders show status buttons until they're closed: Order is Ready (marks it Ready, posts a pick-up message and emails the customer; a Delivery order says to wait for delivery, with no email), Will be On Time and Will be Late (10–90 minutes), which post a message and email the customer, and Close Order. Once a message is posted, only Close Order stays.
  • Kiosk orders offer Close Order. Delivery-app orders offer Close Order; one the customer pays for in the restaurant offers Order is Ready instead until it's Ready, is paid with Pay, and can be canceled with manager approval until it's paid. Order is Ready and Close Order are refused for an order due more than an hour from now.
