Settings on each iPad
Each POS iPad has its own settings under More › Settings: what it prints, how it takes orders and tips, its language, sounds, register station, lock screen and delivery fee. Business-wide POS rules are set in the back office instead.

What's included
POS app settings
Choose how the POS works day to day: business-day start, clock-in rules, order flow, quick-service mode, to-go types, gift certificate types, reports and the waitlist.
Printers on each iPad
Each POS iPad has its own list of printers under More › Printers, choosing which printer handles its receipts and which handle kitchen, bar, label and expo tickets. You can copy the list from another iPad and check or clear the print queue.
Cash drawer and cash handling
Decide how cash is handled: servers keep cash and settle at clock-out, or cash goes in the drawer and card tips are paid out of it — plus the starting float and drawer counts.
Caller ID
When the phone rings, the POS iPad shows the caller's number and caller ID name. One tap puts the caller on a new pick-up order and attaches their loyalty membership.
Staff roles and manager permissions
Set up departments and job roles, choose which roles have manager permission, and pick which POS actions need a manager.
- Online Order Printing › Auto Print Online Orders — turn on for one iPad only, or online orders print twice. The screen stays on while it is enabled.
- Printing Time › Kitchen Printing Hold Time — holds tickets for future orders until they are due within 10 minutes to 6 hours, or Print at creation. Unlike the rest of this screen, this one applies to the whole store.
- Printer Confirmation › Unconfirmed Ticket Alerts (on by default) — flags tickets the printer may not have printed so staff can check and re-send.
- General Settings
- App Language: English, Español, Simplified or Traditional Chinese.
- Quick Service Mode: Make Order opens straight to the menu, with no table or order-type step first. With it on, Drive-Thru Mode makes new orders start as Drive Thru.
- Default Order Type: Dine in or Pick up.
- Show Rotating Tip Editor: after a card charge, the iPad shows a tip-and-signature screen to turn toward the guest.
- Enable Pre-Charge Tip Editor: asks for the tip on the iPad before the card is charged.
- Mute New Order Sound: silences the new-order chime on this iPad. Printing is not affected.
- Mute Order Up: silences the alert that tells a server the kitchen has marked their order ready.
- Use CallerID: shows incoming calls (needs Caller ID hardware).
- Scanner Camera: back or front camera for scanning barcodes, gift cards and rewards.
- Register › Station (1–20) — tags this iPad's orders and payments, sets its Drive-Thru lane and picks its Cash Drawer. If the business closes shifts by station, it also sets which shift Close Shift covers.
- PAX Terminal Tip › Tip Entered on PAX Terminal — the PAX terminal asks for the tip instead of the iPad. It only does so if your card processor has turned on tip prompting for the terminal. If not, the card is charged with no tip, so check with the processor before turning this on.
- Lock Screen Settings — Automatically Lock Screen (Sign out staff) after 15, 30, 60, 90 or 120 seconds idle, for iPads that several servers share.
- Delivery Fee — a fee per distance unit on POS delivery orders: Delivery fee/unit for every Delivery unit (miles), with a part unit counted as a whole one.
- Danger Zone › Reset Device ID — only for when two iPads have ended up with the same ID. The iPad gets a new ID, keeps its printers and returns to the business list.
- Special Action › Delete My Account opens your Selflane account page on the web.
If your business requires a manager to edit POS settings, opening this screen asks for a manager.
